Eyegaze for the masses

Posted by Jane Berliss-Vincent 12 March 2007

Stanford University is developing an eyegaze system designed for mainstream users–it has a two-step process for focusing in on what you want to click. It does require the user to press keys on the keypad to specify what function is desired (e.g., right click, drag), so it would be interesting to know if this could be made to work with mouse click-replacing assistive technology such as switches or Dragger 32. Obviously another non-starter for blind users, but we’d be curious to know how well it works for people with involuntary eye movement.
