Robots head to the outlets

Posted by Jim Tobias 12 July 2008

First we had malls. Then we got the Internet so we didn’t have to go to malls. Now we have a robot that goes to the mall for you, so you can stay home and shop elsewhere on the Internet? This robot (Japan only for now, thank Gort) is controlled by your phone as it wanders through stores with its remote video eyeballs, helping you find the actual item you’re looking for while bumping into its robopals, wasting salesclerk time, and commenting on random awesomeness.

No, that’s not right. These things will certainly be very useful, once they are fitted with melon-squeezing tentacles and steak-marbling detectors for the supermarket.
